A shortage of cervical cancer vaccines

The Coalition of Physicians for Medical and Civil Rights says that there is a shortage of human papilloma vaccines given to girls to reduce the risk of cervical cancer.

Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa, its chairman, said that there had been a shortage of those vaccines for about 8 months.

In this regard, Dr. Palitha Mahipala, secretary of the Ministry of Health, said that the ordered vaccines will be received in Sri Lanka by the beginning of next month.

He said that the necessary vaccines for a period of one and a half years will be imported in this manner.
