The MSC Messina has become inoperable due to an engine room fire two days ago in the sea off Kirinda and the Indian Coast Guard says one person is injured on board.
The MSC Messina fire has now been completely extinguished and the rest of the crew are safe.
The proprietary company used the Weiger tug to tow the ship and it left for Singapore.
The ship maintains coordination with the Maritime Rescue Coordinating Center at Port Blair.
The Vishwas, deployed by the Indian Coast Guard, is also passing by to help in case of emergency.
