The Ministry of Education says that the distribution of uniforms to school children will be completed before June 12.
Under the first phase, the Ministry of Education stated that uniforms received from China were distributed to school children in North, East, Central and North-West provinces.
Out of 3,831,000m of uniform cloth supplied by local suppliers, 3,561,000m have been distributed.
The remaining amount of 27,000 meters is currently being distributed in Galle, Kalutara and Chilaw areas under the final stage.
There, the requirement for school uniform fabric is 12,694,000m.
The Ministry of Education added that these uniforms will be distributed to 42 lakh school children and student monks.
