Half of the country’s conflicts in houses are due to economic problems

A recent survey report states that more than half of Sri Lanka’s population, i.e. 52%, identified economic factors as the main threat to their house conflicts.

The report states that 22.7% of the country’s population has not been able to earn enough income for their household needs, and another 17% have been affected by the high cost of living and related problems.

The survey also revealed that 13% of the country’s population is suffering from unemployment.

The survey was conducted with the joint support of the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office, the German Institute for Technical Cooperation in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Barometer and the Government of Sri Lanka.

The survey report on Sri Lanka’s 2022 crisis and social integration was launched in Colombo today (08) in the morning under the chairmanship of Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapaksa.

The lack of employment opportunities in this country was 16% in 2020 and it is reported that it has increased by now.

The survey report also states that Sri Lankans were at the highest level of poverty in the year 2021 and they often had to live without even basic needs in that year.
