The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha says that from the 30th of this month, the use of spoken English in every class of grade 01 will be started islandwide.
The Minister said that in the future, necessary updates will be made to bring all school syllabuses from 6-9 and 10-13 to international level and a pilot project will be started next month.
He also mentioned that artificial intelligence has been planned to be taught as a subject along with information technology, and the necessary course development and resources are currently being done.
The minister who further commented here stated that he is working to overcome the challenge of meeting the global sustainable development goals related to the education sector by 2030.
He also said that steps will be taken to improve the human resources of schools by adding 8,000 college teachers and 26,000 graduate teachers to the education system from next month. It was also said that it is the parents’ duty to make the children interested in learning properly during these activities which are done in a short period of time.
