Trade, Commerce and Food Safety Minister Nalin Fernando says that eggs will have to be imported to prevent a shortage of eggs in the country during the Sinhala and Hindu New Year.
He said that this action is taken to prevent the increase in the price of eggs due to the high demand during the festive season.
Minister Nalin Fernando also mentioned that officials of the Department of Animal Production & Health will be called and a special discussion will be held tomorrow (01) regarding the next steps to be taken regarding the import of eggs.
