    A gang formed through WhatsApp to spread fear in the North is arrested by the STF

    The Police Special Task Force has disclosed information about a group organized by WhatsApp that organizes youths in several areas of the north to carry out acts of violence.

    In this regard, the announcement issued by the Police Special Task Force Media Unit is as follows.

    According to the information obtained during the interrogation of a suspect who was arrested recently (05) in the Puwarasankulam police area by a team of officers including the Police Inspector EMPN Adhikari of the Special Task Force Vavuniya camp, information was reported regarding a Whatsapp group known as Geththu Pasanga is carrying out violent acts in the areas of Puwarasankulam, Thattankulam and Settikulam.

    Accordingly, the officers who acted immediately arrested four persons of 18 years of age residing in the Vavuniya area along with 04 mobile phones and handed them over to the Puwarasankulam Police Station for further investigation.

    This raid was done according to the information received by the officers of the Special Task Force Vavuniya camp, according to the orders and instructions of the Special Task Force Commander, Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Varuna Jayasundara, under the supervision of the Zonal Commander Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. D. D. D. K. Hettiarachchi, under the guidance of Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. W. V. R. M. Abeysekera.
