The elephant that had fallen in a paddy field in a forest area in Pudur, Kanagarayankulam, Vavuniya has died this morning (11).
The elephant had died while wildlife officials and veterinarians were struggling to lift it from the spot on the previous day (09) and yesterday (10) with the help of backhoes and weight lifters.
The elephant lay in the paddy field for about a month. The elephant has attracted a lot of attention due to a video released by a person on social media. The video was released on May 23 and it had been 12 days since the elephant had fallen into the area.
