Two disciples of Uragaha Indika, an organized criminal and large-scale drug trafficker who is currently abroad, have been killed in a shootout with police Special Task Force officers.
A team of officers of the special raid unit of the Special Task Force headquarters camp has conducted a raid in Polwatta, Minuwangoda today.
A person was shot dead in the Uragaha area last August and a 04-year-old child and his father were shot dead in the Yakkalamulla police domain last month.
A shootout took place between the Special Task Force officers and the suspects while going to arrest the main shooter and the motorcyclist in this incident.
The suspects died after being admitted to Minuwangoda Hospital due to their injuries.
During the raid, a Special Task Force officer received minor injuries and was admitted to Minuwangoda Hospital for further treatment.
The two deceased persons were identified as Milan Kosala (Junda) and Gamage Diluka (Mula) from Poddala, the two main henchmen of Uragaha Indika, who is an organized criminal and a large-scale drug trafficker, who is currently abroad.
A T-56 firearm, 01 12-bore ammunition gun and a Rambo-type knife were seized and handed over to Mnuwangoda Police Station for further investigations.
