Gampaha District Member of Parliament Expert Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle announces that the opposition leader met yesterday (14) to discuss the role to be played for the people as a common opposition at the time of presenting the 2023 budget proposals.
Therefore, it also states that the reports that they have joined the Samagi Sandhanaya are untrue statements that mislead the people.
The statement of the MP is given below.
“Today (14th) the media reports saying that I have joined the Samagi Sanandhanaya may be news that may mislead the people, so I would like to clarify the facts about it as follows.
I would like to remind you that I resigned from the state ministership at a time when the people were under pressure due to the rising situation in the country and worked as an independent member of parliament from April 2022. I have always acted according to my heart, and as a public representative, I have not hesitated to support the pro-people proposals brought by the ruling party as well as oppose the proposals that oppress the people.
Today (14) I met with the common opposition group including the leader of the opposition to discuss the common tasks of the opposition that should be performed for the people as opposition at the time of presenting the budget proposal for the year 2023, and a consensus was reached to fulfil the common tasks of the opposition in the parliament. However, I declare with the responsibility that there was no forming of Samagi Sandhanaya. Therefore, I declare that the media reports saying that I have joined the Samagi Sandhanaya are misleading and devoid of truth.”
