Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena requests all MPs to refrain from photographing their votes during the voting to elect the new president.
It is said that there are legal provisions to deprive the members of parliament of sitting in an MP post of parliament for 7 years or to be sentenced to six months imprisonment if they take a picture of their vote during the polling.
The Speaker also said that the support of all parties is expected to successfully complete the polling to be held tomorrow (20) to select the successor president by adhering to all the rules and respecting democracy.
