    Russia’s tallest Buddha statue unveiled

    Russia’s tallest Buddha statue unveiled in Kyzyl, Kyrgyzstan

    Tuva Prefecture is one of the few provinces in Russia where the traditional Buddhist population lives.

    This Buddha statue has been created for the 100th anniversary of this state republic. It is said to be 16 meters high and weighs 26 tons.

    This statue is sitting in a lotus position. It is thus built on a beautiful site in the (Енисей) river valley.

    Russian sculptor Vitaly Shanov is said to have created the statue.

    The Venerable Siri Sarana Thero of Waskaduwa has written a note in this regard saying that it is a pleasure to hear such news during the month of Vesak which celebrates the third anniversary.
