The CID is currently recording statements from retired Maj. Gen. Jagath Alwis, Secretary to the Ministry of Security, regarding investigations into the attack on the Galle Face protesters.
That is based on a statement made by Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon that he was instructed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Security and the IGP to allow attackers to move freely towards the Galle Face.
The CID also recorded statements from the IGP who was summoned before the CID the day before yesterday.
The CID is preparing to send excerpts from IGP’s statements and the statements from the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security for further action tomorrow.
