The Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella stated that a group of mosquito control assistants working under the Ministry of Health do not have the required educational qualifications to make them permanent.
The Minister said that these employees were recruited on contract basis in 2017 and 847 of them did not have any educational qualifications and there were problems in securing their employment.
The Minister also said that in order to get a health assistant for a permanent job, one has to have passed six subjects with two C passes at the GCE Ordinary Level Examination.
Necessary steps are being taken to refer the 847 unqualified employees to the Multi-Task Force Department, the Minister said.
