Northern Province Governor Jeevan Thyagarajah has said that legal action will be taken against government officials who do not assist in the implementation and maintenance of environmental protection projects in the North.
The Governor said that he had instructed the Senior DIG in charge of the Northern Province to take legal action against such officers after the 8th of this month.
The Governor also said that eco-friendly programs in the Northern Province should be continued in line with the standard provisions.
He said that a series of very good eco-friendly protection programs have been successfully implemented in the Karainagar area in the recent past but their status is now declining.
