Sources from the Ministry of Finance say that all arrangements have been made to issue three new liquor licenses to three large-scale businessmen.
According to the sources of the Ministry of Finance, the new licenses will be issued to three large-scale businessmen who are already engaged in the production of liquor and they will be issued before the 31st of this month.
At present, there are 25 distilleries operating in Sri Lanka.
A senior official of the Ministry of Finance said that complaints have been received that some liquor factory owners are committing tax evasion.
With the issuance of the new license, the number of active breweries in the country will increase to 28, he said.
