A highly mutated Omicron virus infected person has been found in Sri Lanka.
The Health Promotion Bureau states that this has been confirmed by a genetic analysis of a Sri Lankan who arrived Sri Lanka from South Africa.
The Health Promotion Bureau says that this was revealed during the analysis of the PCR test results which was carried out at the airport on his arrival to the country.
So far, Omicron covid variant has been found in 27 countries around the world, including Sri Lanka from today.
