Non-degradable lunch sheets made of polythene have been banned from today.
Accordingly, only biodegradable lunch sheets can be sold in all shops, according to the Ministry of Environment.
An earlier gazette notification had been issued banning the use and sale of lunch sheets from today.
Prior to taking this step, the Ministry of Environment had summoned wholesalers, large importers and manufacturers and discussed the alternatives and given them time to implement the measures in practice.
This ban will be imposed accordingly from today.
