Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) and others who were detained at an Air Force base in Batticaloa after being arrested and released on bail for violating the quarantine rules have staged an online protest from that base.
They are forcing the government to withdraw the Kotelawala Act.
They had staged the protest by displaying placards calling for the immediate demolition of the Kotelawala Act and a media briefing was held online, giving it to social media and media institutions.
They said that despite their unjust imprisonment using quarantine laws, they would continue to protest against the Kotelawala Act.
Ven. Thenne Gnanananda Thero, Convener of the Joint Unemployed Graduates Association, the Media Secretary of the National Bhikku Front Ven. Koswatte Mahanama Thero and the General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Stalin also spoke during the protest.
