A thief who had entered a house in the Wattala police division this morning has died while being hospitalized after being assaulted by the family members of the broken house.
When the thief entered the house, two youths who were home woke up and while trying to find who is it, the thief took a knife in his hand and prepared to kill them.
The Chief of Police in charge of the Kelaniya Division SSP Rohan Dias stated that one of the youths had assaulted him with a stick and informed the police.
He said police immediately rushed the suspect to the hospital and he died on the way to the hospital.
He further stated that this person has been identified as a registered criminal in the country. Rohan Dias further stated that the police had caught him breaking into several houses in the Kadawatha area. This person was a resident of Kekirawa.
