Cricket Enters Olympics After 128 Years

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved the inclusion of cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

In the 141st IOC session held yesterday (16) in Mumbai, India, the addition of cricket to the Los Angeles (LA28) Olympic Games was officially announced.

The International Olympic Committee points out that cricket has represented the Olympics only once before and that was in the year 1900.

Accordingly, because the Olympic mandate will be received again in 2028, cricket will join the Olympic Games in 128 years.

Accordingly, cricket players will have the opportunity to join the dream of Olympic medals, which is considered to be the most important sports festival in the world. According to the International Cricket Council, the interest in the game of cricket will increase all over the world.

The ICC has taken the unique opportunity to approve the proposal to add cricket to the Olympics through an extensive two-year process.

“We are delighted that the IOC session confirmed the inclusion of cricket in the LA28 Olympic Games,” said ICC President Greg Barclay.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase our great sport at the LA28 Games and hope the occasion will be meaningful to the Olympic athletes and sports fans alike,” He said.

It is a special thing that cricket won the Olympic mandate on the day when the Sri Lanka vs Australia match was played in the 2023 World Cup in India. There is no doubt that the mandate of winning an Olympic gold medal is a new dream for cricketers.
