With effect from the active travel restrictions in the Western Province today, the Director General of Health Services has announced that the Heads of Institutions and Council Employees of all Government Ministries, Institutions and Semi-Government Institutions belonging to the essential service category should only brought employees to required extent to the workplace.
Any officer / employee (including staff officers) employed in all Government Ministries, Institutions and Semi-Government Institutions not belonging to the essential category of service can be called to the place of work for a maximum of two days in a single week.
It is also only in cases where the officer / employee is unable to perform his / her duties from his / her home.
As public transport is reserved for essential services only, employees who are brought to the workplace should be provided with the necessary transportation from home to the office in accordance with health instructions.
Offices in the private sector should work with the minimum staff required.
But the Director General of Health has also announced that they should be encouraged to work from home whenever possible.
