    50 million worth of Kerala Ganja seized while transporting to SL from India

    Two suspects and a dingy boat were arrested by the Navy last night (June 20) along with 174 kilos of Kerala ganja and 05 kilos of dry turmeric worth over Rs. 50 million which were being brought to Sri Lanka sea from India.

    The Navy has stepped up to increase patrol sessions around the island to curb illegal activities, including drug trafficking by sea.
    The Navy said that this stock of Kerala ganja was found during a special operation to the search of dinghy boats conducted by the Northern Naval Command using P177 Coast Guard boat and Z 196 and Z 215 vessels belonging to Special Vessels Squadron in the waters off the Thondamanaru area in Jaffna.

    According to the Navy, the operation was carried out in accordance with proper health measures to prevent the spread of COD-19. The two suspects identified aged between 28 and 34 were residents of Point Pedro and Mullaitivu.
