    A state-of-the-art crude oil refinery for Sri Lanka from China

    Mr. Qi Zhenhong, the Chinese ambassador to Sri Lanka, said that a state-of-the-art refinery that can refine 04 tons of crude oil per day will be established in Sri Lanka.

    The ambassador also said that after the opening of the refinery as a Chinese investment, there will be a big change in the fuel distribution sector in this country.

    The Chinese ambassador who arrived in Kandy today (27th) afternoon mentioned this in the presence of Most Venerable Varakagoda Gnanarathana Thero, the Leader of the Asgiri chapter of the Siam Nikaya, and Most Venerable Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero, the Leader of the Malwathu chapter.

    The ambassador also said that the crude oil refinery established in Sri Lanka was established in the 60s and it is hoped to establish a new refinery with modern technology and open 150 petrol stations in the country.

    Mr. Qi Zhenhong, the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, further pointed out that China has planned to invest between 120 and 140 million dollars in Sri Lanka and that this will open up job opportunities for the youth of this country.
