Egg price will not go down this week

The All Ceylon Egg Producers Association says that they will provide eggs to consumers at a lower price than the control price from the first day of May.

The association also points out that it is not possible to sell eggs at the control price until that date.

“I am telling the consumer authority and the minister, we would like to discuss a system with the farmers who produce these products and traders, to sell an egg for a price above Rs. 50 for the next 7-8 days. Allow selling an egg for a price above Rs. 50 till May 1. No problem. After May 1, we will allow an egg to go below the control price.” Sarath Ratnayake, the president of that association, said.
