President Ranil Wickremesinghe says that the Chinese Exim Bank assisted last night regarding the restructuring of debt and the agreement Letter has been sent to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan.
He made a special statement in parliament today that Sri Lanka has now served all the requirements and it is expected that the IMF response is expected in the 3rd or 4 weeks of this month.
The President has also discussed this with Mrs. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.

“I know the hardships of the people. As the government, I have to apologize for that. But the new letter from the Chinese Exim Bank was received last night. The Central Bank Governor signed the agreement at night and sent it immediately to the IMF. Now our duties have been done. Now I hope the IMF fulfills its duties in the 3rd or 4th week of this month.
