Uragasmanhandiya police today arrested two drug addicts who sneaked into a house through a window at night and raped a woman, and stole money and property, including a pair of earrings that were in her ear.
This crime happened to a 44-year-old woman, a resident of Bandarawatte in Korakeeya, Uragasmanhandia, on the 22nd at around 11:00 p.m. The police say that she is married and lives alone in her house, apart from her husband.
The two robbers who entered the house where she lived on the night of the 22nd through the window pointed a knife at her and sexually assaulted her. Then the two robbers fled with the pair of earrings in her ears, two mobile phones, and Rs. 7,000.
According to a complaint received by the Uragasmanhandiya Police, the two suspects were arrested today, along with the two stolen earrings. The two earrings were sold to a jeweler at Uragasmanhandiya for Rs. 13,000.
