A few moments ago, the Softlogic Colombo Stars led by Angelo Mathews managed to win the LPL match held today (08) by 9 runs by defeating the Dambulla Aura team.
Batting first, Softlogic Colombo Stars scored 165 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Niroshan Dickwella, who played an excellent inning, scored a quick 62 runs in 41 balls. It also included two sixes.
Ravi Bopara and Dinesh Chandimal scored 26 and 29 respectively to strengthen the Softlogic Colombo Stars innings.
Softlogic Colombo Stars bowlers managed to restrict the Dambulla Aura team to 156 runs who were chasing a target of 166 runs. At the end of the 20 overs, they could only get 156 runs with the loss of 07 wickets. Dambulla skipper Dasun Shanaka scored an unbeaten 31 runs in 20 balls, and Tom Abell scored 33 runs. But their effort was not enough for victory.
Suranga Lakmal, Dominic Drakes and Karim Janet took 2 wickets each to destroy the Dambulla team’s innings.
Niroshan Dickwella got the man of the match award.
