Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena says that the appointment of a new president is expected to be done within 07 days.
At the press conference where the resignation of the President was officially announced, the Speaker requested that Parliament be convened tomorrow (16th) and that all MPs should attend.
The Speaker stated that the Prime Minister will hold the office until a new President is appointed.
