Mahinda College managed to win the annual one-day match by 17 runs, which was held concurrently with the 117th Galle Lovers’ Quarrel of Mahinda-Richmond.
The match was held on the 10th at Mahinda College Cricket Stadium.
Mahinda College captain Kushan Madusha, who won the toss has decided to bat first.
Mahinda School team managed to score 226 runs in 49.4 overs. Dinura Kalupahana, who contributed to Mahinda’s innings, scored 49 runs and vice-captain Dhanuja Induwara, who played an extraordinary innings for Mahinda, strengthened Mahinda’s innings by scoring 100 runs in 101 balls.
Dhanuja Induwara, who played a patient but explosive innings, protected one end of the wicket and colored his innings with six sixes and eight fours.
In bowling, Tharinda Nirmal took 3 wickets for 43 runs and Sharon Abhishek took 2 wickets for 31 runs for Richmond College.
Richmond College, Galle team who played the reply innings only managed to score 209 runs. In this, Taridu Nirmal scored 41 runs and Kalpa Netsara strengthened the innings of Richmond College by scoring 37 runs. Mahinda College’s captain Kushan Madusha 4/29 and Shehan Hasaranga 2/32 broke the wickets of Richmond team and picked up the victory with excellent bowling figures.
Dhanuja Iduwara won the man of the match award.
