The Police Special Task Force has attacked four journalists who went to cover the protest currently taking place in front of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s residence in front of Thurston College, Colombo.
Journalists of Sirasa channel Sarasi Peiris, Janitha Mendis, U.G. Sindujan and Varuna Sampath were attacked in this way.
The channel also says that they have the media government ID card certified by the government to allow them to carry out their duties without hindrance.
“Senior Superintendent of Police Romesh Liyanage, who was on guard in front of the Prime Minister’s private residence, gave the order to “beat them and drive them away” and this attack was carried out.
At this time, it is also reported that other journalists who were in the station were saved by running.
This attack happened in the background even after saying out loud that they are journalists.
