    An Australian minister meets PM

    Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe held a discussion with the Minister of Home Affairs of Australia, Claire O’Neill at the Prime Minister’s Office today (20).

    The Australian Minister stated that Australia will continue to support the Government of Sri Lanka in its efforts to stabilize the economy.

    Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe explained that Sri Lanka is focused on developing an export-oriented economy that is open to foreign investment.

    The Australian Minister of Home Affairs stated that she is interested in continuing to bring the Australian tourism industry to Sri Lanka and promoting Australian investment in Sri Lanka.

    Explaining the development of shipping lanes to be implemented by her government, the Minister explained the administration’s policy on maritime security and human trafficking.

    Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has stated that the Government of Sri Lanka and the country’s security forces are committed to ending human trafficking.

    The Minister of Home Affairs stated that she is ready to assist Sri Lanka in restructuring and further developing the Customs Department.

    The Prime Minister thanked the Australian Government for providing a $ 50 million development assistance package to Sri Lanka.
