The Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera stated that a minor technical fault has been reported at the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery.
Mr. Wijesekera said that technical faults were being reported as the Sapugaskanda oil refinery had not been operational for more than three months and that employees of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation were working to rectify the problem.
The Minister said that the crude oil required for the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery has been imported and operations are expected to resume as soon as possible.
