The President and the Prime Minister have issued messages to the people in the wake of the current crisis in the Galle Face area.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has strongly condemned the incitement and violence perpetrated by participants.
The President also said that violence does not solve the current problems and called on all citizens to remain calm and restrained.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says that it is important to remember that violence is also born of violence and that he urges ordinary people to exercise restraint.
