    Siyambalapitiya resigns again

Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has sent a letter to the President stating that he will not accept the post of Deputy Speaker.

This is the second time he has resigned from the post of Deputy Speaker.

Former Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya had recently decided to resign after a group of government MPs became independent in Parliament.

Thereafter the appointment of the new Deputy Speaker was made by a secret ballot yesterday.

Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was again elected for the post from that election.

He was elected at the last minute by a majority of votes over Imtiaz Bakeer, who was nominated by the Samagi Jana Balawewa.

However, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna stated in Parliament that it had decided to vote for Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

Following is the letter sent by Ranjith Siyambalapitiya to the President stating that he will not accept the post stating that the public will have a wrong idea about his appointment.
