It is reported that the number of passengers traveling by train in the country has increased.
This is in line with the increase in fares in other sectors for transport services.
The Department of Railways points out that the reason for this is that the Railways is still charging old fares despite the increase in fares for all other transport sectors.
Permission was also sought recently to increase train fares.
But it was not approved by the Treasury.
