A Police Sergeant in Gothatuwa Police has been arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau with 750 grams of heroin worth nearly Rs. 10 million.
A person was arrested with 45 grams of heroin in a raid carried out in Wellampitiya yesterday. Details of the sergeant have been revealed during a lengthly interrogation carried out on the suspect to find about how the drug is received. Police Narcotics Bureau then come out with a strategical plan and make the suspect telephone the sergeant and demand another consignment of heroin.
Police sources said that the sergeant was arrested when he brought seven hundred and fifty grams of heroin.
During the lengthy interrogation, the sergeant had stated that he had received the stock of heroin from a clerk in charge of the judical data warehouse in a court in Colombo. The Police Narcotics Bureau states that investigations are being carried out regarding the clerk.
