Another power plant in Kelanitissa shut down

The Kelanitissa Combined Cycle Power Plant belonging to the Ceylon Electricity Board was abruptly shut down tonight due to lack of fuel.

The Ceylon Electricity Board states that 160 megawatts of capacity will be lost to the national grid due to the shutdown of the power plant.

The power plant generates electricity from a fuel called naphtha.

The Ceylon Electricity Board says that the generating work of the power plant was stopped at around 8.20 tonight due to the depletion of naphtha fuel.
