The Special Commodity Levy of Rs. 65 per kilogram of imported rice has been reduced to 25 cents for the next six months.
Basil Rajapaksa, the Minister of Finance has made this tax reduction in a government announcement issued on November 02 in accordance with the powers vested in him under the Special Commodity Levy Act. This tax deduction will be effective for a period of 6 months.
