Sujeewa Jayantha Wijayanayake, the only Sri Lankan to represent the Tokyo Olympics Organizing Committee, has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador for Japan.
The post was jointly offered by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Japan and the Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce.
The ceremony was held at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Japan.
Sujeewa Wijayanayake expressed confidence that the post would help Sri Lanka gain a reputation and hoped to renew the existing ties between the two countries in the economic, educational, social and sports spheres.
Sujeewa Wijayanayake is a distinguished alumnus of Ananda College, Colombo.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan Sanjeev Gunasekara, Deputy Ambassador Chandana Weerasena and President of the Japan Sri Lanka Business Association Jagath Ramanayake were also present at the occasion.
