The Department of Meteorology says that the prevailing rain and wind conditions are expected to continue due to the fact that the Southwest Monsoon condition is gradually establishing over the island.
Over 100mm of heavy rain may occur in some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
The sky will remain heavy in most parts of the island.
Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and Galle and Matara districts will experience occasional rain or thundershowers.
The northern and north-central provinces also experience several rainy sessions.
The wind blows from time to time across the island. Gusts around (40-50 kmph) are possible.
People are advised to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
