Meanwhile, more measles cases have been reported from several districts in the past.
Mr. Mahipala said that such cases of measles were reported from the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Kandy, Jaffna, Kurunegala and Kalmunai.
A special program to prevent measles is being implemented in this country together with the World Health Organization.
Accordingly, the program will provide a dose of measles vaccine to the 6-9 month olds from 09:00 am to 04:00 pm on January 6, 2024 at any nearby medical clinic, said Dr. Palitha Mahipala, secretary specialist of the Ministry of Health.
