Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that it is his hope to get government power in the next election as well.
He mentions that there is no hope of going to the opposition or getting the opposition leadership in the parliament.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa mentioned this while participating in the inaugural event of the “Kirindiwela Ssthutu Pawula” educational and trade fair festival.
To the questions raised by the journalists, the former president said:
Question – Next year is an election year. Do you hope to appoint new seat organizers for the party?
Answer – There is no such thing. There is no fault in the current organizers. An election is also coming.
Question – What is the action to be taken regarding those who left the party?
Answer – New people are appointed to replace those who left the party. I think those things have already been done.
Question – Drug traffickers are being arrested these days.
Answer – I think that is the best thing this government is doing. This country is being destroyed because of drugs.
Question – There is talk that you are preparing to take the position of Leader of the Opposition. Is that true?
Answer – There is no such story yet. Our hope is to gain power in the next election. We have no hope of going to the opposition.
Question – Will taxes be reduced or increased in the future?
Answer – Taxes cannot be eliminated. There will be taxes. I mean a fair tax system should be introduced to the people.
