Former Minister Kumara Welgama has passed away.
The former minister passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
He was 74 years old when he died.
Born on April 5, 1950, he was the chief organizer of Sri Lanka Freedom Party in Agalawatta Constituency from 1984 to 2000.
Later, from 2007 to 2010, he was the Minister of Industrial Development, and from 2010 to early 2015, he was the Minister of Transport in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party-led governments.
He was also a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party until 2019.
He then joined the Samagi Jana Balawega Aliance led by Sajith Premadasa as a Member of Parliament to contest the parliamentary elections.
