The gazette notification has been issued to appoint the vacant post of Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reform under the President.
The President’s Secretary has stated in the relevant gazette announcement that after consulting the Prime Minister, the President intended to keep this ministerial position under him.
Mr. Wijedasa Rajapaksa, who held the position of Minister of Justice, resigned from his position as a candidate for the upcoming presidential election.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe is also running as an independent candidate for the upcoming presidential election.
