Commissioner General Urges Comprehensive Registration to Ensure Inclusivity in Electoral Process

The Election Commissioner’s Office has issued a reminder that registration for the 2024 voter list must be completed before February 29. Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake emphasized that it is essential to include the information of all family members or individuals residing at a household who are over 18 years of age in the voter list received at their residences.

Commissioner General Ratnayake stressed the mandatory nature of this requirement, highlighting that individuals who have not changed their permanent residence but have relocated due to reasons such as marriage, education, or any other circumstance should be registered in the voter list.

Moreover, he underscored the importance of including the names of family members residing abroad in the voter register, irrespective of their voting eligibility. This inclusive approach aims to ensure comprehensive representation and participation in the electoral process.

As the registration deadline approaches, the Election Commissioner’s Office urges all eligible individuals to proactively register themselves and their family members to facilitate a robust and inclusive voter list for the upcoming elections.
