The police lifeguards tried hard to save the mother’s life who committed suicide by jumping into Chandrika Lake in Embilipitiya with her two children.
The best possible effort was made to save her life by giving her artificial respiration when she was found drowned in the water and brought to shore. She was then taken to Embilipitiya Hospital in a cab. But she died this evening while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit after being hospitalized.
She jumped into the lake with her 5 and 11-year-old boys near the sluice. The 05-year-old child was already dead from drowning when he was found. The 11-year-old boy was saved because he swam and clung to a place close to land.
As a result, one child and the mother lost their lives.
She came from Suriyawewa with her two children and committed this crime.
The police said she had committed this crime by writing a suicide note. The Police Media Spokesperson’s Office states that she is receiving long-term treatment for a mental disorder. That medication is very difficult to endure for the body, so she committed suicide.
This woman’s husband is a farmer engaged in cattle rearing.
