    ‘SPEAT Force’ was introduced for Prisons to thwart corruption and misconduct

    A new task force has been introduced to prevent and control corruption and misconduct in prisons.

    It is called the ‘SPEAT ​​Force’ which stands for Sri Lanka Prisons Emergency Response Strategic Force.

    The Defense Secretary said that 500 new veterans will be recruited to the new force.

    The first group to be recruited by SPEAT ​​Force for prisons to prevent corruption and misconduct recently joined the prison service.

    Retired Secretary General of Defense Kamal Gunaratne was the chief guest at the passing out parade.

    The ceremony was held at the Centre for Research and Training in Corrections in Angunakolapelessa Prison.
