Thriposha production halted due to lack of Maize

Chairman of the Ceylon Thriposha Company Deepthi Kularatne states that the production of Thriposha has been hampered due to the lack of maize suitable for human consumption.

He said that due to the lack of proper standards, 05 containers of maize obtained from suppliers were also returned in the last few days.

However, steps are being taken to obtain 1,500 metric tons of maize as soon as possible, he said.

Sri Lanka Thriposha Company says that 50 metric tons of maize is required per day to produce Thriposha.

Due to the shortage of maize in Sri Lanka, maize is imported from the United States, Brazil, India and Pakistan.

However, due to the prevailing corona situation, maize production in those countries has also declined and the price of maize has also gone up, Thriposha company states.
