“Rally to form leaders from your province”

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna presidential candidate Mr. Namal Rajapaksa says that he is not able to give the political promises that every politician gives to the Tamil & Muslim people, but instead, he is able to build a better tomorrow for the Tamil & Muslim youth of this country.

He said this while addressing the people who attended the rally in Batticaloa yesterday (10).

Mr. Namal Rajapakse said that divisions between races will increase during the election period, but he said that although some politicians do politics by creating divisions on the basis of ethnicity, religion, and parties, he is not a politician who does politics by dividing people.

Mr. Namal Rajapaksa asked the people to rally to produce political leaders from their province instead of the politicians who will be brought from other provinces to Batticaloa and said that he will help in that.

Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, the presidential candidate of Pohottuwa, addressed the public rally held in Batticaloa and said:

“We had a plan to bring the highway to Batticaloa. The Yahapalana government stopped it. In the government that we form, the Mattala highway will be built until we reach Batticaloa. The tourism industry will be developed to Batticaloa, Arugambe, and Trincomalee to Pasikuda, especially by connecting with Mattala Airport.

Every politician makes political promises to Tamils & Muslims. Make constitutions. I cannot promise you such constitutional changes. But I can promise to make a better tomorrow for the youth. I have that desire.

I want to protect the Tamil culture. I want to protect the Islamic culture as well. As a country formed by Buddhist culture, we have a responsibility to protect other cultures.

English as the common language should be taught to the children of this country. The Tamil language should definitely be taught to the Tamil children. I am also protecting the Tamil language in this country just as I am protecting the Sinhala language.

We have come through a difficult time. There was a division between the races that day. During the election, that division increases. Some of you politicians do politics by dividing. Divided between ethnicities. Divided into religions. They are also divided by party. I am not a person who does politics by division. I say that what can be done is possible and what is impossible, impossible.

I would like real leaders to emerge from these provinces instead of leaders brought from Colombo and sent to the East and Batticaloa. Make leaders from Batticaloa. I will help with that. “I request you to vote Pohottuwa on the 21st and fulfill your duty to take this country to a developed country,” he said.
